Maslow 101 - By LunchBreath
Everyone so often one stumbles upon a really great collection of art. Hop on over to lunchbreath.com. This fellow's art is not only amazing, it also has some business and leadership context. How cool is this alternative to Maslow's hierarchy of needs?

Keep up the good work LunchBreath!
SMSing all over the world!
Insane! Girls rule the SMS world as well? (duck)
I know my sister is fast with her cellphone. She used to turn it sideways just to save on those microseconds of wasted thumb movement! If you think about the simplistic the technology behind SMS really is, this is truly phenomenal. Oh and by the way, "texting" = "sms".

Credit goes to the author from Mashable.
The world never sleeps
This proves it!
This is a picture of the air traffic around the globe in a 24 hour period. Old, but still impressive. If anything, there will only be more planes in the sky. Each yellow dot is an airplane.
Being the proud South African, the significant air traffic in Sub Saharan Africa is very heartening to see.
Business Models and Osterwalder
Who ever thought Business Models would be this much fun!
A smart fellow with the name of Alex Osterwalder came up with a very interesting way of modeling a business. Essentially you analyse your business, stakeholders, distribution channels and then plot the information on a template such as:

Whilst doing research for a Business Fundamental assignment, I found the model below on the site businessmodelsinc.com. It is the same template as above, but with images instead of text. Imagine how much fun it could be working on your next model?

It is pretty straightforward and you discover a lot about the business you thought you knew like the back of your hand. I wish I had the art skills required to make mine as pretty as the Fifa one ;-)
I struggled to find a usable template and being the nice guy, will post a link to a Power Point template you can use**.

OK, now for that link: Making it easier.
Talking about FiFa, who do you think will win the World Cup? I think it is time for an underdog to raise the cup :-)
MBA 2010
So, the time to take the MBA route has come! Can't tell you how excited I am! Looking forward to working learning and implementing all of the new knowledge!
We are looking at using a wide variety of online tools to get past the distance challenges. The first one is Google Calender (www.google.com/intl/en/googlecalendar/about.html). Will let you know how it goes and what our experiences are with it.
If you have any experience with a better collaboration tool, please send me an email (danie.site@daniekrige.com).
Big up: Barloworld Armstrong embraces Mobile Messaging
I have had my FORD for almost 2 years now. Before that I had a Toyota and I was accustomed to their high quality levels of service and customer care. Needless to say my first experience with Barloworld (closest service center for FORDs) was not a pleasant exercise. This was the vehicle's 15000 km service and I was tempted to sell it back to them after the service... Won't go into the details today ;-)
So, it was time for the big 30000 km service and needless to say, I was not looking forward to it. But what a turnaround! Friendly staff, well organized operation, timely lift to work and wait for it... SMS updates!!! Via SMS they let you know of exactly what is happening to the car, costs associated and readiness for collection.
I work for Clickatell (go check us out: http://www.clickatell.com) and we are a global messaging company. Today was a great example for me, of how SMS/text messaging can actually work for a company.
How can you make mobile messaging work for your company?
Public holidays and the South African economy...
I'd be the first person to say that the recent spate of public holidays were a welcome break from quite a hectic year, BUT what does this mean to the South African economy?
Working for an international company, I can't help but feel guilty every time we are sleeping in (winter mornings are great for these), whilst they are keeping the fort. Surely South Africa must be one of the countries with most public holidays?
These are the ones for 2009:
In light of the above, I found the following article immensely humorous: Zuma urges SA to get to work, starts with three-day week
Back to tackling the backlog left after these darn holidays ;-)
